As an only child his imagination and creativity developed early during his childhood.
Moved with family to Chicago, Illinois, and attended Catholic School.
Began playing the trumpet in the 2nd grade.
Switched from trumpet at age eight to piano at age twelve.
Began playing songs by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson, developing a love for gospel and contemporary music.
Inspired him to begin writing and composing original songs.
Accomplishments: Musical Partnership with O’Landa Draper Met O’Landa Draper in 1985 while attending church. Began working together in 1986. Collaborated for several years composing, arranging, and writing music. Contributed to the musical sound and development of O’Landa Draper and the Associates. Worked together extensively while pursuing a shared vision of creating a community choir. The choir was named O’Landa Draper and the Associates. Recording Career James Chambers, a Memphis radio DJ, introduced O’Landa Draper and the Associates to Shirley Caesar. Recorded background vocals for Shirley Caesar’s CD, “Hold My Mule.” Signed a recording contract with Word/Epic Records in 1990. Jim Stewart served as Executive Producer of the Pop/R&B single “That’s The Way” by Lenetta Nelson (Atlantic Records, 1994). Single produced by Bobby Evans and Patrick Walker. “That’s The Way” was Jim Stewart’s final recording project. Awards and Recognition In 1996, composed and produced a commercial jingle for Harold Ford Jr. that aired on radio. In 1997, won 1st Place in the NARAS Urban Grammy Showcase for “Ride My Bike,” a song composed and produced by Bobby Evans. In 2006, finished among the Top 10 Producers in the Listen and Exchange Contest in Houston, Texas, competing against producers from around the world. Additional Productions Composed and produced the Gospel CD “Forgive Yourself” with Mary Caldwell Evans. Produced the Bobby-E Jazz CD “Just Before Day.” Featured as the artist on “Just Before Day.” More than 35 years of experience writing, tracking, composing, arranging, and producing music and songs.
